De Novo Bank slated to open with Internet banking
Business Editors/Banking & Technology Writers
ATHENS, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 5, 1997--
Rockdale National Bank commits to Internet banking
Rockdale National Bank announced it will launch its fully
functional Internet banking site in conjunction with the opening of
its brick and mortar branches. The Conyers, Georgia-based bank in
suburban Atlanta, currently in organization, has contracted with
nFront for its nHome(TM) Internet banking solution which is based on
Windows NT(TM) and SQL Server(TM) technology. nFront creates, hosts and
maintains secure Internet sites for the community bank industry and
is an official Microsoft Solution Provider.
Rockdale National Bank has received preliminary approval from the
Comptroller of Currency and the FDIC. It will open with two branches
this fall in response to the centralized shift in banking caused by
mergers and consolidations. The bank is creating a value-added,
virtual banking environment focused on convenience-based products and
services. Internet banking will enable it to serve the Rockdale
County population, which is recognized as being exceptionally
computer savvy.
Bill Daniel, president of Rockdale National Bank, said, "Internet
banking will enable us to provide 95% of the traditional services
customers require in brick and mortar offices. Opening with an
interactive banking site gives us a competitive edge allowing our
customers to bank in the comfort of their home on their own
timetables. This is a major convenience feature for the residents of
Rockdale County, who have a median age of 35 and are more than likely
working later hours and commuting to Atlanta."
Rockdale National Bank's Internet site enables users to view
account balance and histories, transfer funds between accounts, pay
bills, open new accounts, apply for loans, and communicate with their
bank representatives. The site is fully interactive and offers
on-line customers and prospects 24 hour, 7 day a week financial
services and information.
Tripp Rackley, president of nFront, said, "Rockdale National's
decision to implement Internet banking as it opens for business
proves its commitment to the cutting edge of technology. Banks are
no longer playing passive roles when it comes to the proven
capabilities of on-line banking. They want this technology
yesterday."
The nHome software operates through a network managed by nFront
for tracking and reporting site traffic, site maintenance and
security. It works in conjunction with the Microsoft SQL Server to
ensure transaction requests are immediately fulfilled. Plus, the SQL
Server technology monitors security, account validation, account
transfers, performs account tracking, and ensures information is
continually backed up in a secure environment.
nFront provides Internet banking and Internet TV solutions for
community banks including Web site design, hosting of the site, and
maintenance. The company's flagship product enables banks to offer
customers 24-hour, on-line access to financial services. Founded in
1996, nFront owns the registration rights of the http://www.banking.com
domain name.
